Alberta Health’s Air Ambulance program is operated through the Provincial Flight Co-ordination Centre. They carry the responsibility of organizing the air transport of patients for the entire province. Dedicated Air Ambulance providers are dispatched according to priority to wherever air transport is required.
For Alberta Health, ACAA flies patients primarily from Northern Alberta’s various rural Hospitals, into the City of Edmonton’s Tertiary care Hospitals. Other trips include the transport of the Neonatal Intensive Care Team and the Pediatric Intensive Care Team as well as trips to return patients from Tertiary care hospitals back to outlying Alberta hospitals that are greater than 300km away.
